U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. Child Support Payments Reduced

Monthly child support payments from former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-2nd) to his ex-wife, former Alderman Sandi Jackson (D-7th), were reportedly reduced by a District of Columbia judge March 9th for their two children, ages 13 and 16, from $1,529.00 to $329.00. However, the judge also reportedly ruled that Jackson’s child support payments would be suspended until August because of monies he had already given his ex-wife.

Jackson, son of Rev. Jesse Jackson, and his wife pleaded guilty in 2013 to various financial crimes, for which both were sentenced to prison. Previously, in 2012, Jackson had resigned from congress and sought treatment for bipolar disorder. Jackson receives $138,400.00 annually in Social Security disability insurance and workers’ compensation because of bipolar disorder and depression. Consequently, the $1,200.00 from Social Security that Jackson reportedly contributes was deducted from his child support payments.
